will send your imagination back to the cattle drive days of the 1800's.
"Hittin' The Trail" is an anthology of old-time cowboy songs which includes old classics as well as some lesser known selections that colorfully describe cowboy life during the era of the open range in the American West. Cowboy poetry enthusiasts will recognize poets Henry Herbert Knibbs, Curly Fletcher, Bruce Kiskaddon and Allen McCanless whose words became lyrics for some of the songs. Common threads in the lyrics are the cowboys' grievances of a rugged way of life as well as their acclamations of pride for their trade. A cowboy's bond to his horses and his desire for freedom in the wild prairie and big western sky, prevailed over the hardships as did his camaraderie with his fellow trail hands who shared in the struggle. Songs on the album are: I Ride An Old Paint; Whoppee-Ti-Yi-Yo, Git Along Little Dogies; The Pot Wrassler; The Brazos; Little Old Log Shack I Always Call My Home; Wyoming Home; Punchin' The Dough; Ridge Runnin' Roan; Pimento; The Cowboy Soliloquy and I'm Hittin' The Trail Tonight.
