David Degge is a self-taught hammer dulcimer player who has been playing for over four years. He was first exposed to the hammer dulcimer when he saw a performance by dulcimer player Jem Moore in 1999. He then received the dulcimer used for his album as a gift in November 2001. He has been composing his own music, in addition to playing more familiar tunes, since sometime in 2002. Not long after he began his sophomore year of high school were people frequently requesting recordings of his music. So he worked with his dad on producing a full-length album as David's own personal music project, now known as "Escape." His distinct style, dauntless energy, and exceptional appreciation of the music theory behind this instrument combine to forge unique compositions you will enjoy for years to come.

"David doesn't know any sense of limitation by boundaries of 'But, you can't do that at your age.' His attitude is, 'But why can't I do that?'" -Mike Allen, David's former band director at Highland High School, Highland, IL
