Highland Way are the newest Celtic Band to pop out of San Diego County. A year ago, Brian Caldwell, (lead vocals, guitar, bodhran), a native Scot born and bred in Glasgow, had the fortune to bump into Heloise Love, (rhythm guitar and vocals) at a San Diego North County Folk Circle. Immediately, Brian knew that he wanted to sing and play with her. She introduced him to her talented musician friends, Rich Heinz, (Bass, vocals), Lane and Gary Carter, (lead and rhythm guitars), and Jim Miller, (bodhran, mandolin), who had already been playing informally at various different venues. Within a couple of months they had combined their various talents and created Highland Way. As an added bonus, they had the good fortune of hooking up with a young multi-talented prodigy Howard Bertin, (fiddle, mando, accordion, whistles, keyboard, pipes, the list goes on...). Together they produced their first CD 'Islands Awake'
Within one year they shared astage with some big names in the Celtic Folk Scene; Alasdair Fraser, Wicked Tinkers, Alex Beaton. They are making a big splsh in the Celtic scene.
