Let the Music always keep your spirits high.

My Name is Hugh Keogh I now live in Hollywood Florida with my wife Biljana. I lived in Australia for a number of years and was born and raised in Dublin Ireland. Music has always played a big part in my life and after playing to many people here in Florida they kept asking if we had a CD. Well I have always wanted to make a CD and I felt that the time had come where I just had to bite bullet and do it.
For this CD I have included new material that I have written and the music of other artists that I have been singing and playing for years.
So let the music always keep your spirits high.

Dimming of the Day Richard Thompson © Richard Thompson
I have been singing this song for so long and when BB and I got married she joined me on the chorus. It's usually the first song that we sing when we sing together. RT is one of my favorite singer songwriters

Song for Our Flag Hugh Keogh © Hugh Keogh
I was listening to NPR one Sunday morning and there was a man on the radio talking about Francis Key's when he came up on deck and looked out across the Bay and saw the Stars and Strips still flying over Fort McHenry through the mist. He felt that America had won a significant victory over the English in the War of Independence. The image that formed in my head was just to good to pass up so I wrote the song there and then.

New Years Eve Song Si Kahn © Si Kahn
Learnt this song from the singing of our great friends Bob & Margaret Fagan . We sing it all the time New Year Eve or not.

Whirlwind Hugh Keogh © Hugh Keogh
This song was bouncing around in my head for years. I finally finished it in late 2004. Moving Hearts meets the Corrs.

Bright Blue Rose Jimmy McCarthy © Jimmy McCarthy
Jimmy McCarthy is one of my all time favorite singer songwriters. I have been singing this song for years and I still haven't a clue what it is about but I just love to sing it. You can lose yourself in the images.

Song for Vincent Hugh Keogh © Hugh Keogh
When my son Vincent turned 21 I was writing a speech to give at his birthday party and the speech ended up a poem. When I returned to the USA I rearranged the words slightly and after many attempts finally came up with a tune to match them.

Ride On Jimmy McCarthy © Jimmy McCarthy
Still sounds great after all these years. That has to be the essence of a great songwriter. Christy Moore still sings this song at most of his concerts and when the crowd sing "With him", it's magic. When it all comes together it makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. Recorded by loads of people and yours truly has a go. Sure why not isn't the song there to be sung?

Two Marys Hugh Keogh © Hugh Keogh
I was doing an auld class in personal development where we had to do a live performance at the end of the course. The instructor said that I had a statement to make about Ireland. I was reading a pamphlet about a bronze monument that they wanted to erect for the young single women that were transported to Australia from Ireland at the time of the famine (1845-1850). The song came to me one Sunday morning when we were living in Glebe, Sydney, Australia. I couldn't sing the song for a long time without tears coming to my eyes.

The Deluge Jackson Browne © Jackson Browne
Christy Moore nearly always opened his set with this great song. Christy is a legend and if it is good enough for him then it is good enough for yours truly.

The Lovers Ghost Trad Fagans
This is another great song that we got from the singing of Bob & Margaret Fagan. A beautiful song from the North of Ireland. The tale of a lover coming back from the dead. It has all the elements of a great song; dream sequence, is it real or not and of course the time factor with the oncoming dawn when she must be gone. They don't write them like this anymore?

The Jolly Beggar Trad Hugh Keogh
Exploits of a fast young man who was lucky that all that was thrown at him was the bed.

Walk With Me Hugh Keogh © Hugh Keogh
We are all looking for that special someone who will understand them and be with them when they really need them. I was singing this song for a while in my head and had a rough version of it recorded on my Mini Disk © Sony Corp. So when I came to do the album I thought why not finish it. So there you are now..
