James Hawkins is a songwriter, pure and simple. Anything and everything could and probably will end up in one of his songs. Using his pen as a brush and his imagination as canvas James paints pictures like no one else can.
"Turn Back Time" was recorded by using the Utah Phillips method of recording,"set the levels and I'll tell ya when to turn it off". "Turn Back Time" weaves Folk,
Gospel and Blues around stories of yesterday and today.
Soon after moving to Venice Florida from Kentucky James started to make a name as a singer/songwriter, first around town but then soon enough about the state. He has had songs recorded by artist's Mindy Simmons, Jim Bikerstaff, Steve Blackwell, Ron & Bari Litschauer, Carl Wade & Something Special and Jon Semmes.
James has been honored, not once. but twice by the Friends of Florida Folk by having songs placed on both songwriter samplers. First in 2002 the song "Swept Away" made the first CD. Then the song "Who's Gonna Fill their Shoes" has been choosen to be included on the second.
