31 years ago, 23-year-old Janet Nordyke Ohuchi recorded vocal and guitar tracks that were somehow forgotten after moving to Japan to create a family away from her homeland of Hawai'i. The youngest of her three children, Kaori Kiana, later moved to Hawai'i to pursue a life in music. These re-discovered tracks from Janet's early years have been made into a collaboration with Kaori's vocals, also at age 23, as well as instruments from the various styles of music that they cover.

This album is not only filled with an array of songs in seven different languages, including Japanese, Hawaiian, and Swahili, but through this labor of love, has become a "family album" of sorts, with its many photographs and stories, giving the CD a rich background of meaning for each track.

We invite you on a journey through time and space, as we celebrate the connection of mother and daughter . . . coming Full Circle.

"The title track of this album, 'Hawai'i,' never fails to inspire me. It poignantly conveys the memories of my sun-filled childhood with loving friends from so many different cultures, while at the same time holding Hawai'i as a wonderful example of Heaven on Earth. This is what I believe is our greatest task and joy in life; to create heaven wherever we are: in our families, our communities, our nation, our world, but first of all in our own hearts. In this endeavor, mankind is truly One." -Janet Nordyke Ohuchi

"I want to add another special thanks to my other musical inspiration, Jewel, for your simple yet profound eloquence in songwriting. I started composing because of you, and I want to thank you for encouraging my creative juices to start flowing! And to Joni Mitchell, who inspired my mother when she was my age with her unique articulation of poetry in song. The three tracks of your music on this album are in homage to you both!" -Kaori Kiana
