Lori Thompson came from a small town in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. She began playing the mandolin when she was 15. After a year of practicing, she was out performing in the family band "The Suttons" along with her dad and brother. Lori also took up guitar and began songwriting at this time.
In 1990, Lori moved up to the Adirondack foothills. In 1994, she joined up with the current members of the bluegrass band Stump Hollow. They have performed many of the area bluegrass festivals and events. Stump Hollow has opened for bluegrass greats like the Dry Branch Fire Squad, the Warrior River Boys, and Larry Stephenson.
Lori now lives in Remsen. She has continued to write songs and perform in the central NY area for the past 11 years. Many of her songs tell a story. Some come from experience. Some have a history lesson to tell like The Ghost of Wash Loomis which is about the notorious Loomis Gang from the Waterville area. She has teamed up with her friends from Stump Hollow, her brother, Ron Sutton, and her good friend Dorraine Scofield to create a CD you'll want to listen to again and again.
