Through his music SKIP GORMAN brings back to life the workaday world of the early cowboys of the American West. Playing the simple yet poignant music that was performed around campfires by cowpunchers and west-bound settlers in the late 19th century. Skip's touch as a singer, guitarist, fiddler and early Monroe-style mandolinist is exquisite. In addition to his firsthand experience as a working cowboy in Wyoming, Skip brings to the music a scholar's knowledge and understanding of the cowboy's Celtic, Spanish and African- American roots. Skip has performed on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion", ABC's Good Morning America and at bluegrass festivals cowboy gatherings and folk venues throughout the United States and Europe. Documentary filmmaker, Ken burns, has featured Skip's music in Lewis and Clark (with soundtrack) and Baseball shown on NPR. Skip has recordings on the Old West, Rounder and Folk Legacy Labels including an INDE award finalist, "Lonesome Prairie Love" and a top ten pick on Amazon .com ," A cowboy's Wild Song to his Herd".
