Spin Magazine calls The Barbed Wire Cutters "the young-riders of the bluegrass revolt." Heralding the resurgence of interest in this uniquely American artform, the Cutters sing and play with sincerity and verve, combining a genuine respect for the tradition hammered out by Bill Monroe with a playful spirit of experimentation and finesse. Over the last three years, this microbrew of old and new has attracted a devoted fan base of long-time aficionados and rug-cutting newcomers. They've made appearances at festivals throughout the Northwest, including Wintergrass and FolkLife, were named "Best Bluegrass Band" at the 2002 Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival, and were recently awarded a coveted showcase slot at this year's IBMA international bluegrass trade show. And now, having recently shared the stage with the Yonder Mountain String Band and Left Over Salmon, the Cutters have fully arrived on the scene, and are fast winning a place among the best acts of contemporary bluegrass.
