From the age of four, Angel Sessions has known she wanted to be a professional singer and hit the stage at a talent show in her native Louisville, Kentucky. Although she credits Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole and Whitney Houston as early influences and Mariah Carey, Yolanda Adams, and Celine Dion as current favorites, Angel's true inspiration she says has been her mother, Pastor Carolyn Murphy.

When Angel started maturing as a singer, she performed duets on albums for Lenny Williams (formally with Tower of Power), William Hart (The Delfonics), L.J. Reynolds (The Dramatics), Brenda Holloway and Freda Payne. In addition, Angel's song writing ability, since the age of twelve, finally paid off when she was asked to write a song entitled, "Don't Keep Runnin' In and Out of My Life" for Brenda Holloway. That experience inspired her to begin writing her own music, which she still does to this day. Angel also sang backup vocals on two songs produced by Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire.

After gaining necessary recording experience singing backup vocals and duets, Angel began appearing live of stage. She toured as a backup singer for Mary Wilson (formally with the Supremes). As a solo artist, Angel appeared on the same bill with The Delfonics and Brenda Holloway. She entertained the crowd at the 1998 and 1999 Grammy Pre-party, hosted by James Brown and Tracy Edmonds.

Angel appeared in "A Smile Like Yours" with Greg Kinnaer and Lauren Holley. She acted in "Down 'N Dirty," directed by Fred Williamson. On the subsequent soundtrack, Angel is featured in three songs and sings a duet with Ali Woodson (The Temptations). In addition, Angel made a video for her single, "Get in Right" which charted at number 80 nationwide. Actor Fred Williamson played her father in the video.

Angel will appear in "Conflicting Spirits." This play is based on the book by the same name, written by Pastor Carolyn Murphy (her mother). Angel has the lead role as Danielle which will feature her vocal talents. Recently she has been cast to sing in "Black Nativity" at the Lorraine Hansberry Theater in San Francisco from November 25th through December 24th.

Angel has recorded two nationwide R&B albums:
1998 - "Introducing Angel" on Ichiban Records ®
