Themselves having been set free from lifestyles of drug addiction, incarceration and backward living, Art and Zylphia's future plans include ongoing jail and prison ministry through psalmistry, teaching and preaching. With the support from other group members, Colton Bryant and Tony Choyce, they want to be a blessing to the Body of Christ with an emphasis on ministering to recovering addicts, ex-convicts, and their families.
Their goal is simple, to deliver "a message to set the captives free" Isa.61:1, to inspire and challenge men and women from all walks of life to take their rightful places in their homes, communities and places of worship.
They believe that God is a God of change and that faith in Him is the key that unlocks the negative cycles of addictions, homelessness, imprisonment, single parent families, low self-esteem and non accountability. It is this type of commitment to the spreading of the gospel that has led them to be recipients of the "1999 Glory Award" an honor bestowed upon them by "The Restoration Foundation" for their faithful commitment to the ministry work of Jesus Christ and their contributions to positive change in the community.
They have been featured on KNBC TV News, KCET TV and in The Los Angeles Daily News. Prison Fellowship Ministries, Victory Outreach International and numerous prison chaplains throughout California are among their many supporters. They have been highly received in numerous churches, special events and programs in and around the Southern California area where they are based. They are now believing in God that now is the time to take their ministry across the nation and throughout the world, to glorify and lift the name of Jesus.
Their other CD's "NO EASY ROAD" and "REDEEMED" available on their web-site, www.gospelonemusic.com, are still much in demand and have established a firm foundation for their unique ministry of psalmistry.
Art's backround include 4 years as a staff songwriter for EMI Music, and stints as Bandleader and keyboardist for former "Tower of Power" lead vocalist, Lenny Williams and also for the eldest Jackson "Rebbie". Although he has no top hits to his credit, several of his songs have charted as singles and title cuts for both artist.
Since having been "Born Again" in February 1996, miraculously delivered and set free from a lifestyle of drugs and incarceration by the same power that raised Jesus from the grave, he has commited his musical skills and ability to the spreading of the Gospel Of Jesus Christ through psalmistry, speaking and preaching.
" If God did it for me", he says, "God can do it for anyone". God's love has been shown toward us in that Jesus died that we all might be saved.
Art's wife Zylphia, has been serving Jesus since 1984 after overcoming an abusive childhood, broken home, a life of wreckless living and later on, an abusive marriage. Not only does she operate in gifts of the spirit, she is also a gifted vocalist and psalmist as evidenced by the songs she's co-penned and performed with Art on their latest CD release, "Make A Change" and the upcoming "Higher In Jesus"
They now invite you to take this opportunity to join the many people that have come to appreciate Gospel One as one of their favorites for contemporary gospel music that can truly "Make A Change" and take you "Higher In Jesus"
