Since releasing his debut CD, In His Presence (2002), Danny has experienced a time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord. This period of renewal is evident in the tracks on his sophomore CD, Come Home. This CD, the culmination of two years of prayer, consecration, and sacrifice, will uplift, inspire, and incite the spirits of music lovers from all backgrounds.
After the release of In His Presence, Danny garnered the admiration of audiences because of his passionate, energetic performances. Danny's music is a reflection of his victorious life in Christ! Danny has had a heart for the Lord and music since he was a young boy, writing and singing Gospel music in his home church, United Christian Baptist Church, from the age of twelve. Since singing with his family gospel group, The Golden Voices, in Columbus, Mississippi, he has been sharing his love for God through music in churches throughout the Southeast. Danny operates in ministry with the favor of Joseph, the heart of David, and the conviction of Paul. With a heart of compassion, this talented singer and minister operates under God's anointing to bring restoration to the body of Christ.
Danny's formal training in music began at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi and continued at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. At both institutions, Danny's musical gift propelled him to leading status among his peers. Danny received two degrees from Stillman College in 1996, one in Sociology, the other in Vocal Performance. Danny counts it a blessing to have received formal vocal training but knows that his singing ability is a gift from God. Danny's songs are birthed not only from a relationship with Christ but intimate fellowship as well. It is through this fellowship that God delivered him from low self-esteem and depression.
While pursuing his master's degree in Guidance Counseling at Florida A&M University, Danny's purpose in life began to unfold. During the winter of 1997, he accepted his calling into the preaching ministry at Innovation Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. When asked about the rigors of singing and preaching, Danny responds, "I look at being anointed to do both as double ammunition in my arsenal against the devil. One often serves as a platform for the other. Sometimes my preaching creeps into my singing and vice-versa. Ultimately, however, the outcome is the same. The gospel of Jesus Christ is uncompromisingly delivered into people's hearts."
When asked about his current CD, Danny exclaims, "I'm really excited about this project. It expresses my gratitude to the Lord. I believe that this CD will minister to the churched and unchurched!" Inspired by many different genres--classical, rhythm and blues, jazz, reggae, contemporary Christian, modern day praise and worship, as well as traditional gospel--Come Home combines each of these styles to produce a sound that can be labeled as contemporary gospel. More important than labels though, Danny's music reflects the dynamics Christians experience in their relationship with the Lord.
Danny's anointing and calling recently catapulted him from Tallahassee, Florida to Fort Worth, Texas to serve as Praise and Worship Leader at Abundant Life Family Church, where he served until March of 2005. Presently, Danny's agenda includes ministering at local churches in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. He quotes, "When following God, there is often not a true blueprint, but a faith print. I have learned to walk by faith, not by sight. This is how God seems to work with me."
Whether performing individually or corporately, Danny's first priority is to praise and worship the Lord sincerely and wholeheartedly. "I want the Lord to receive my praise. I want my worship to be acceptable in His sight." Danny's heart for praise and worship is apparent in several songs on both In His Presence and Come Home.
In addition to singing, Danny is also founder and president of InSight Ministries. Danny's primary aim as founder of InSight Ministries is to share with others the limitless Savior who has delivered and restored him. As a minister, Danny draws from his life experiences and knowledge of the Word to minister to the downtrodden.
Danny seeks God's insight to guide and lead him in every aspect of his life. The main thrust for InSight is to let every broken, discouraged, or fallen believer experience the restorative hand of the Lord. As Christ has made him whole, he hopes to see other believers experience the same restoration. Danny's vision and purpose continues to unfold as he maintains a steadfast love for the Lord.
