Donovan Simons was born on August 6, 1967 to Garry and Jean Simons and raised on the islands of Bermuda. At the age of 14, he left Bermuda for the United States to attend boarding school. He started taking piano lessons at the age of 5, but leaned more towards playing the trombone during his sophomore year at Laurelbrook Academy. This is also where he received his first taste of working in a print shop.
In August of 1987, Donovan flew to Puerto Rico to attend Antillian College. There he studied Music Education, majoring in piano and a minor in voice. He participated in the school general choir and the selected choir, Pro-Música. He worked, studied, learned Spanish and lived there for a total of three and a half years.
Donovan first began to get more deeply involved in music in 1983. It seemed to fill a void within which he had for years, been searching. He bought many different albums ranging from soft rock, R&B, right on down to heavy metal. He spent hours at his apartment trying to sing and imitate James Ingram, Larry Graham, Lionel Richie and the like. After all, these were his "new-found heroes".
The first time Donovan dared to sing alone in public was at a talent show held at Antillian College in 1988, where much to his surprise, he achieved first place. When the show was over he was showered with praise and was exalted to what seemed to be "larger-than-life". From that time, he knew he had to "make it BIG" and get his share of the "rich and famous" lifestyle. He sang at weddings, banquets, funerals, etc. He sang and traveled with the groups "Echos de Amor" ("Echoes of Love"), "Sparkles of Joy", and "The AC Quartet" to such places as St. Croix, NY, NJ, Canada, just to name a few. It was during these years that he started to record his poems, compose his songs, and sing.
However, as history has recorded, Donovan passed through some very trying and traumatic experiences which changed his whole perspective of life. Through those experiences, he has seen God work with him and through him. Now he desires more than ever to be an instrument for Christ.

"It is my PURPOSE through this ministry of music and personal testimony, that others may come to know God and have a closer walk with Him."
