"Globee", they call her the "Vibrato Queen". Her brassy, jazzy, bluesy voice can bring the house down in any category of music.
Gloria J. Baker started her singing at the age of 4 yrs. old, when she sang for the Robert Fulton Elementary "Glee" Club. She is a native of Cleveland, Ohio but moved to Florida at the age of 13. Through the years Gloria's artistic voice matured as she began singing for different organizations, clubs and churches.
In 1977, Gloria Baker changed her name to "Globee" and began singing all over the State of Florida as a R&B singer/entertainer/artist. Within that year, she joined a recording group by the name of "The Golden Flamingoes" and signed with producer Sax Kari, who was producing the group at that time with T.K. Productions in Hialeah, Florida. The group fell through and Globee began singing Jazz.
Globee interlocked with famous artists all over such as: Bobby Caldwell, Betty Wright, Jimmy BoHorne, Copeland Davis, Joey Gilmore, Chuck Robinson, George McCray, Donny Simpson, George Benson, and recently had the pleasure of doing some work for Celine Dion. Globee performed for organizations such as: The Arts Council, Festival of Afro Arts, Sunfest of the Palm Beaches, Palm Coast Cosmetologist Assoc. Inc., Chamber of Commerce, etc. She went on the road and in 1983, Globee performed at the LeClub in Riviera Beach for a two year period. She and Copeland Davis, Hank Williams, Sam Venti, and also her producer Sax Kari electrified a down home jazz and blues audience for a period of time. As she excelled, the critics and media stated that her vibrato was so forceful, that they didn't consider her a jazz singer, but a strong R&B show stopper. She then began doing shows in Florida with such acquaintances such as: Archie Bell and the Drells, Alice Day, Timmy Thomas, and others. Also in that year, Globee met with an musician friend which persuaded her to sing Reggae. They formed a group called "Globee" and began doing shows for agencies such as: Fantasma Productions and Rock of Ages. They were booked for a 4-year period at the Waterway Café in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The group was very successful, but in 1990, they decided to go separate ways just to try new ground. But fate had other plans for Globee. In 1991, Globee was converted to a born-again Christian. She found that through Jesus Christ, she had a calling on her life to sing God's Word through Gospel music and bring joy and freedom to God's people. Her goal was to record her own gospel album, but recession took hold and forced her to return to secular music.
In 1992, she joined a group called "Moondance" who did shows for the Chamber of Commerce as one of their main performing bands. This group performed on an oldie/goodie type scale, from the 1920's to the 1990's. In 1995, she returned to her gospel roots and prepared for her first gospel album. She and 3 other associates formed an organization called the "South Florida Songwriters' Association". She has also performed on Bobby Jones 1st Gospel Album (FL); WPTV Channel 5's "Feedback", W.P.B., FL. Globee has begun working her way to become one of the most successful writers in the songwriting business. She has relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and has begun a new organization called, "2 Dove Production Enterprises, Inc.". Globee has begun performing in several gospel shows: The Inaugural Rebel-Rouser Ball/Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless,2003-2004; WAEN TV and WAGN TV, 2004; The Sweet Auburn Festival 2004 and numerous other appearances. Globee also performs along with her two daughters and her son Torrey "T-Beats" Brown who produces most of her music. The release of her new CD "A Mind Thang" will be publicly released in November of 2004. Globee is a member of World Changers Church International, which is pastored by Creflo A. & Taffi Dollar. She is a trained leader in the Home Fellowship Ministry, which is within the ministry of WCCI. She is also hosting her own Gospel Talent Show called "GOSPEL VIBES" on WAGN TV-Channel 25, Atlanta. As a leader, Globee is assisting in the vision of WCCI, to arm God's people with the Word of God; and as a songtress, she will captivate the audiences of this world with her inspirational talents, and most importantly will pacify God's people with praise through her songwriting.
MAY GOD BE WITH THIS NEW DIVA IN GOSPEL "GLOBEE"!
