Biography
A native of North Carolina, Jacqui began singing in the choir at Saint Mark A.M.E. Zion church at the age of eleven. She was raised in church and knew the experience even before receiving salvation. Although attending church regularly, she did not truly have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until years later. As a result of her upbringing, she developed a love for the things of God at a very young age and became fascinated with who God was. At age sixteen, along with her sister and some friends she formed the Starlite Gospel singers and received a measure of success as they traveled regionally. Jacqui proclaimed, "I had no idea then that God was giving me hands on experience as we watched peoples lives change as a result of our music."
Years later Jacqui auditioned for a gospel group, that was in the making, called Chosen Generation, which was under the direction of James Hollingsworth, III. James became her mentor and trained her to use her entire being to perform gospel music with energy and enthusiasm. During her tenure with Chosen Generation Jacqui shared the stage with such greats as Jennifer Holliday, Dottie Peoples, Jesse Campbell and worked in other areas of creative expression, including stage production. After three years of studying with James Hollingsworth and CG, she felt the lord leading her to step out on her own.
Jacqui believes the Word of God must be the foundation by which we all operate. She is the Sr. Vice-President of Hymn & I, Inc., a gospel music production company. The objective of her music is to "keep the integrity of ministry in the music" by writing and singing songs that renew the mind, restore hope, and transform the lives of the listeners
