In March 2005, Kelly's song, "Where Is The Man I Need?", was the winner in the Hip-Hop/R&B category in an international songwriting contest (see for yourself at www.songoftheyear.com - look for Kelly L. Mercado). For her song, "Gotta Have It" (a hamburger jingle), Kelly was named Eastern Regional Finalist in the Sizzlin' Sounds of Late Night Music Contest 2001 for which Wendy's was a sponsor. She sang and recorded the theme song for Joe Repas' Word of Life radio broadcast which airs on WTMR, and her rendition of America's National Anthem was an awesome opening for the Fourth Annual Arts Festival (2001) where news anchor, Ukee Washington, was emcee for the evening in Camden, New Jersey.
Kelly's gospel CD titled "No Greater Force" is underway. She believes and wants the world to know that there is "no greater force" than the love of God. Her CD is a refreshing blend of traditional and contemporary gospel music featuring performances by the legendary Dorothy Norwood with the St. Charles Choir of Philadelphia, John Murray and Worship, and Perry Jenkins and the Lord's Mercenaries. Her personal testimony, hearty lyrics, catchy tunes, and God's anointing make the "No Greater Force" project a force to reckon with. Look for the CD in the fall of 2006.
