She is said to be one of the most interesting and exciting blues talent of a young generation, singer with an unusual voice timbre.
Magda was born in South / West part of Poland. She studied computer science at Technical University of Wroclaw. Since a very childhood she kept singing everywhere and almost all the time so after technical â€œstoryâ€ she came back to the music route. She listened to the music of different genres but blues, gospel and soul overtook her totally. Her first band was the blues-rock one but in a very short time she quitted with rock and started to sing and play guitar the music which she found the most powerful with rhythm, melody, heart and soul feeling.
Magda performed with almost each top Polish blues bands, singers and musicians. She received twice the BLUES TOP AWARD in 2003 and 2004 as a â€œBLUES SINGER OF THE YEAR". She was voted with 50% more votes that the next one listed by the readers of the most important Polish â€œTwoj Bluesâ€ (eng. â€œYour Bluesâ€) blues magazine.
REV. RABIA FROM BERKELEY, USA, famous American blues singer on her www.bluesup.com page wrote about Magda: â€œBiggest recent discovery in active and exciting Polish Blues. (...) This girl must really loves blues. That young and from Eastern Europe! Excellent! She is better than some Americans! (blues singers)".
BOB BROZMAN after concert with Magda at Dobrofest Trnava 2005 said â€œSheâ€™s a great future for the music. Sheâ€™s a great, great musician with very good groove and sense of musicâ€.
In 2002 Magda choose solo performing and at the present time she plays mainly alone or also as â€˜MAGDA PISKORCZYKâ€™ with her band which is: Aleksandra Siemieniuk (dobro guitar), Arkadiusz Osenkowski (tenor sax.) and optional double bass, drums and piano accompaniment.
MAGDAâ€™S MUSIC is an original arrangements of blues, gospel and soul mix. Itâ€™s a music deeply set in the blues tradition and innovative at the same time. Blues Radio on Magda: â€œHer music is original but not strange. Faithful to the roots and modern. Very modest and full of emotions at the same time.â€
Her first album entitled BLUES TRAVELLING was recorded in summer 2004 and released in October 2005 during the biggest indoor blues festival in the World - Rawa Blues 2005. In recordings took part Magda's Friends and special guest: legendary jazz musician and composer - Michal Urbaniak (violin on "Tutu" album of Miles Davis).
Magda gave shows at lots of Polish festivals and also at some international blues fests e.g.:

In 2005 Magda Piskorczyk Duo (as the first Polish blues band) was qualified to take a part in the biggest blues contest in the world INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE in MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (February 2005), when she got very good comments of IBCâ€™s jury: "You have a great "raw" sense of the music you're playing. I'd like to hear you on a full body guitar. I love your vocal phrasing" - Steve Clark; "She's different yet talented. Has good karma with audience. Slow but good different in a Nora Jones kind of way - sultry!" - Kelly Dobbins; â€œInnovative, quirky and funâ€.
