These songs have been a part of my musical family for four generations; from my grandmother, who joined the church first, to my parents--a father, who promised the Lord he'd join the church if he survived WWII; to a mother, who taught and sang at numerous churches throughout the United States--to my parents, who sang and engendered a love of music in my brother and sisters and me; and to my own children, who find meaningful musical expression by means of the same hymns illustrated here, through flute, clarinet and voice.
Although this is "My Hymnal," I hope it becomes "your hymnal", too, as the Spirit tunes your soul through worded text and song.
