Free City was formed in 1997 by four musically inspired men, which consists of good friend from different settlements of Freeport, Grand Bahamas. Big Cix (Trevor Nesbitt), Anteek (Timayne Johnson) and Tripple Clint (Clint Laroda). Their style of music comes from strong Caribbean R&B, which forms a new breed of hip-hop.


Free City was introduced to radio in January 1999, and quickly built a fan-base in the Bahamas. The first single "Welcome: created a strong rotation bed for the rest of their hit singles to come. These included "Da Remix", "Everlasting", and "We Be Like". The first two singles mentioned put the group with the likes of DMX and Beenie man for heavy rotation on the local stations that year.


Free City popularity got them a spot on the Heineken JamzFest in the summer of '99. Bet aired a special on JamzFest and the group got their time to shine with artist such as Beenie Man, Red Ra, Silver Cat, and others. Coming of of this Judden Burst of popularity, the group began featuring other Bahamian artists. This combination created one of the biggest Hip-hop songs to date in their home country.


They then released, "Cold World." Shortly after they released the 1st Bahamian full length Hip-hop album to rave review independently selling units. Priming them to release their upcoming album set for summer '04. This took them to another level as artists. More recently hooking up with HighGrade Productions, the group is now ready to tackle the world.
