A member of the Houston-based rap group known as the Screwed Up Click, Lil' Keke proved himself to be one of the group's strongest rappers, aligning himself with the city's underground rap don DJ Screw. Appearing on countless screwed DJ mixes and an endless number of other albums to come out of the South, Lil' Keke also became one of Houston's hottest rappers, releasing albums for Jam Down Records. His debut album, Don't Mess Wit Texas (1997), proved that he could hold down an album's worth of tracks. His follow-up, Commission (1998), found him again showcasing his flow. His next release was It Was All a Dream (1999).
