Once in his teens, Lil Trea began to venture outside of his aunt's house in pursuit of a source of income. Without going into detail, he explained that he did a lot of 'stupid' and 'irrational' things. "I was mostly into takin' other peoples' shit before I knew 'bout drugs," he said. He got into rapping at the age of 14, shortly after meeting label mate M11. "We was'nt thankin' 'bout no rap, then," he chuckled when asked about this early union with his longtime friend. Needless to say, music was'nt a priority of his at the time and life still had more lessons to give and mistakes to learn from. After years of these lessons and mistakes, he's realized the futility of what he was doing and began to focus more on rap. "I got kids now and I ain't neva had no daddy, so I'm doin' this for them as much as myself. That, and plus I'm tired of fuckin' wit them folks," he said. "Ima just use what I been thru to make music that I know my niggas can relate to."
After all of his personal and legal woes, Trea is poised to make a splash in the pool of talent in the rap world, with the help of Choken Em Out Records.
He chose the title Lil' Trea, pronounced Lil Tree, because of his love for reefer and because he feels like he can't be easily moved, physically or emotionally.
