Holdin' Our Own Records is a label located in Vicksburg, MS that tailors to the Rap/Hip Hop Community. Started in 1998 and legally setup in 2001, this company prides themselves in the theme quality over quantity. We, as a company feel that there is no purpose of putting numerous amount of songs on an album unless they all sound good and serves a purpose. We make sure our projects have been reviewed by individuals and fans that listen to our type of music and carefully listen to what needs to be done to our music before we put it out on the market for sale.
The Secret Emissaries is a group of four members that are the fore front members of Holdin' Our Own Records. They are called the Secret Emissaries because they are a group of people sent on a mission often as a member of a government. Being that we are the "Millennium Government", the name fits them well and their purpose is to inform the world of the message we are trying to relay. With their first album being recorded in 2003, they have the business mind and incentive to enlighten the world of the message and objectives, which is to represent for the people that live in poverty and have to go through the everyday hardships of living in the less suitable places in society.
Our influences in music would be the late greats Tupac Shakur and the Notorious Big. The impact left by these artists and the changes that came about because of these two legacies are immeasurable and is something that will go down in history. Other greats such as Eminem, 50 Cent, T.I.P. aka T.I., Pastor Troy, Ludacris, and Nelly are other influences that directly impact the type of music we compose. R&B greats like R. Kelly, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Ginuwine are also influences because the type of music that they use often comes up in the instrumentals we create.
Older influences would include the late Bob Marley, the late Barry White, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, and others to name a few for their undying love and contribution to the Entertainment Industry.
In defining what sets us apart from other labels in our field of Entertainment, several objectives have been defined, developed and executed.
First, we are here to please the people. Without them, we are nothing and we make music that relates to all types of people's lives. Secondly, we give people what they want, which is quality music. We want our fans to be pleased with buying our album and to spread a positive message about what they have heard within our music. Third, we have a very detailed, informative website that gives individual biographies of each artist and music so that interested individuals can determine if they like the type of music we are producing. We want our fans to know what we have been through and nothing has been hidden because we want them to understand why we talk the way we talk and stress certain objectives the way we stress them. Last but not least, we are here to ensure that people get their money's worth from our music and be able to relate it to an aspect of their life.
Other details about our Infantry is that we have Generals for the major sections of the company to make sure the section they are managing is running smoothly and a President to make sure the complete Government as a whole is doing what needs to be done to make successful progress in pursuing the dreams and carrying out the daily activities, training, and necessary steps to ensure success.
