Opus Ditty Bio
Opus Ditty's music is an inviting and unpretentious blend of pop, rock, folk, and country that was created for the enjoyment of kids while remaining accessible and delightful for parents as well. These singable songs conjure an all around feeling of warmth, and love by way of lyrics and melodies that encourage the importance of positive perspectives, knowledge, and a healthy imagination. Opus' debut record, "Opus Ditty & the Joyride Jet Engine Bus" does much more than present a string of catchy little ditties. Opus literally picks his travelers up with the Joyride Jet Engine Bus and takes them on a sonic journey through music class, the park, the rain-forest, the farm, into the imagination of dreams, and then back to the city for a fond farewell.
The result of this narrative thread is a simple yet rich context that allows the music to take you on an adventure to a place where songs reside in all of us - our imaginations. Opus Ditty not only makes music, he creates the world in which it exists. He has begun an endless odyssey for which his debut album sets the stage. Who knows where Opus, the Hoedown Gang, and the Joyride Jet Engine Bus, will go from here. Who knows how far your child's, and your own, imagination will take you, once inspired by the sounds of song.
Opus Ditty Back-story
Opus Ditty grew up on a farm in rural Ohio. As a boy, his favorite time of day was when the chores where done. Afterwards he would sit on the front porch listening to his grandfather tell stories about all the adventures he had traveling around the world, while his grandmother played old 45's in the front room. Listening to those stories, Opus got to thinking, and decided to have some adventures of his own, so he built the Joyride Jet Engine Bus out of spare parts he found in the barn. He loaded up the bus with his favorite instruments and set off to see the world. He traveled to every continent, making friends and writing songs about all the things he did and saw.
Everywhere that Opus went, two things were always the same. First, was that everybody and everything seemed to experience the world in their own unique way. Second, no matter where he went, it seemed all walks of life deeply enjoyed their own kind music. Of all his travels, these were Opus' most important and inspiring discoveries.
Opus' dream is to inspire others by sharing his adventures, and experiences the same way his grandfather nurtured his own imagination. In 2005, his dream came true when, while visiting New York City, Opus met an experienced recording engineer, Kevin Meeker, who shared the passion of his vision. The two of them wasted no time in putting together a band, the Hoedown Gang, and recording Opus' first CD titled: "Opus Ditty & the Joyride Jet Engine Bus"
