"Well let me tell you, Summer Dying is fucking amazing." --Matt Ronin, Hit the Pit Magazine

While 2001 was a year of many band break-ups nationally, it also hit home locally. Summer Dying formed in mid-2001 as a joining of two such departing melodic metal bands: the vocalist of Somber and the remaining members of Mind Pollution. The combination provoked them to expand and draw upon a much broader spectrum of music, allowing a heavier and yet more melodic approach with their music...And they hit the ground running.

After a hugely successful first live performance--at the 2001 Milwaukee Metalfest, where they distributed 100 CD-R copies of their three-song demo--and having distributed a total of 500+ demos in the four months following, Summer Dying has gained ground faster than some bands that have been around for years.

Summer Dying has had the opportunity to open for many amazing national bands (including some of their influences) such as In Flames, Iced Earth, Lacuna Coil, Moonspell, Killswitch Engage, Witchery, The Haunted, Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, Dimmu Borgir, Dying Fetus, Drowningman and more in Detroit, The Crown and Shadows Fall in Indianapolis, and a multitude of shows in between both locally and regionally including a two-week tour with Bestiary (Selah Records) in June 2002.

In May 2002, Summer Dying released their debut full-length, a seven-song self-released opus entitled Beyond the Darkness Within, which has received critical acclaim in magazines such as Brave Words, Bloody Knuckles, Pit, including Metal Rules! touting it as "the debut album of the year." BTDW continues to rank in regular rotation at many college metal radio shows in the US, including charting at #3 at WCLH (Wilkes-Barre, PA) and #5 at WMTU (Houghton, MI.)

Starting off 2003 being voted "Best Unsigned Act of 2002" (Online Metal Awards), Summer Dying already has their work cut out for them. The new album, One Last Taste of Temptation, was released in early April just in time for their two-and-a-half week independent tour, taking them throughout the New England and east coast region, down the coastal states and into the south.

"I have never been so emphatic about the necessity to go out and get this album." --Matt Ronin, Hit the Pit Magazine

"I can say without a doubt that BEYOND THE DARKNESS WITHIN is the debut album of the year." --Metal Rules! Magazine
