Trailblazing in record time, the rock crew known as Leaderdog is chompin' at the industry's heels...and they're ready to take a bite. Their new cd, SPEAK, proves that this 5 man metallic band is ready for notice, with a solid focus and a heavy hittin' spirit. The lead song, "Run", packs a power punch that sets the pace for the following tracks. Then you hear the crunching metal sounds of "Black", where the undertones of hip hop meet rock and roll and catch just the right groove. "The Day America Changed" has deeper meaning than the title might suggest. Guitar player Jason Anthony is serving his country in Kuwait as the CD is being released in the US. During a phone call back home, the rockin' military man insisted that the show go on...and it does.
"So we turn our cheek to the coward that we seek and we'll hunt them down and we'll force them to speak."
Songs such as "Decapolis" and "It Ain't Right" show diverse tastes and styles, but still maintain edgy vibe carved out by Jeff Stacy on guitar. Throughout the disc, the bottom never drops thanks to the crash and bang rhythms laid down by Chris Allen on drums and Rob Fields on bass. Top that with the urgent and immediate vocal delivery of Dave Bowman and this rock collection naturally becomes one to keep. Recorded in a matter of weeks during the spring of 2003, SPEAK reflects the sound shaped on the road showcasing in clubs, opening concerts and festivals.
"Wake up...caves inside the mountains say, will we bring the boys back home?"
Highlights from the past year include stops at the Midwest Music Summit in Indianapolis, North Alabama's Big Spring Jam and Mob Fest in Chicago. Leaderdog has appeared with dozens of regional bands from around the country plus national acts Default, SR-71, The Exies and Saliva. There's a new message from the underworld of hard rock...where raw emotion and heavy riffs collide. Leaderdog is set for the challenge and ready for action.
