Early influences were Paul Kossoff, for electric guitar, John Renbourn and Bert Jansch of Pentangle, for acoustic guitar. Friends’ kept introducing me to different guitar styles, notably, that of John James, and David Qualey. I then subsequently became the guitar half of a duo called "Jasmin", and we went on to play all around the North West of England folk scene on and off for about 17 years, with various "time off for good behavior" as the fortunes of the folk scene ebbed and flowed.

Some memories of those days -: ...

First, when we did the support spot for "Five Hand Reel" at Theatre Clwyd...how many support acts get to do two encores at that kind of gig...thanks lads.)

In a similar fashion, the night we did the support for Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger in Manchester, a fantastic night. Both Peggy, and Ewan were so kind and supportive to us that night, and I will always remember and be so grateful to them for that. Anyway, biggest audience we played to and it was the kind of magical night musicians dream about.

During those times, whenever John Ren. played in the vicinity it became "custom and practice" to go to either a Chinese or Indian restaurant after the gig, and around that time, another friend, Keith Offord, organised a concert for the John Renbourn Group, at which I shared one of the opening spots. Shortly after that, I joined John on stage at the Beaumaris folk club for a couple of duets, and we subsequently became friends. Some time later, I did a solo concert for The Wirral International Guitar Festival.
