In the tradition of traveling troubadours, Wadud and Zaynab offer music to promote peace and inner healing. Wadud and Zaynab blend spiritual insight and practice in their music. Zaynab is a singer and plays the harmonium. Wadud plays the guitar, sings and composes most of the music and lyrics. Together, they create a synergy that invites other musicians as well as the listeners to join in an experience of opening the heart through sound. This CD, "My Longing For Thee," offers some of the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan, the first teacher to bring Sufism to the West from India in 1910, along with mantric repetitions of sacred words and phrases in several languages, including Arabic, Hebrew and English. Joining Wadud and Zaynab on this recording are the talented Jemal Wade Hines and Moksha Sommer. Jemal served as producer, engineer, arranger and omni-musician. Moksha sings with the voice of an angel and offers inventive vocal highlights. The album was recorded at the Meditation Hall at the Abode of the Message in New Lebanon, New York, a historic Shaker community now dedicated to the work of the Sufi Order International.
