The experiences that inspire my music are not really much different then what has inspired composers, poets and artists throughout history. A walk through the woods or along a beach, a breathtaking sunset, a drive down a lonely country road, the grandeur of a majestic mountain range, or the cosmic bond of love between two people. All of these experiences of life, from the absurdly mundane to the surrealistic, some positive and some melancholy have an effect on my music.
Though I may have a leaning towards the natural beauty and wonders of the Earth, and the mysteries of this universe, or what some of the deeper mysteries and forces that influence our lives are, I still may sometimes be inspired by something as simple and innocent as a child's smile or some seemingly goofy or humorous event that happens in the day to day struggle to exist in our society.
Many of my compositions have a tendency towards the cinemagraphic in that my music is conjured up through some visual incantation or stimulus. The dramatic play of the atmosphere, in its ever-changing metamorphosis of water, land, and sky, especially here in the northwest and Puget Sound are a constant source of inspiration. My hope is that no matter how abstract a musical vision may be that the intimacy, mystical essence, emotion, and energy will carry over to the listener and some common bond about the beauty of being human will be received mutually and enjoyed in the moment of revelation.
