Jonathan D. Roth is originally from West Chicago, Illinois and began playing the guitar at the age of 14. His classical studies commenced at the College of DuPage under the instruction of Scott Johnston. After his freshman year he transferred to Pepperdine University to study privately with Christopher Parkening, who describes Jonathan as "a fine, young, sensitive guitarist."

Jonathan received 1st place in the 2005 and 2006 Pepperdine University Concerto Competitions and 2nd place in the 2005 University of Southern California American String Teachers Association Classical Guitar Competition. He has performed as soloist with the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra for the 2006 Elmer Bernstein Tribute Performance and with the Pepperdine University Orchestra in 2005 and 2006. Jonathan was a guest performer at the 2005 Santa Monica Bay Keepers Annual Beach Ball hosted by David Foster and whose guest of honor was Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other notable accolades include Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges for 2005-2006, the Pepperdine University Fine Arts Division Outstanding Graduate and Service award and induction into Pi Kappa Lambda, a distinguished music honor society.

Jonathan is also a composer and his new album Meditations, which was released in June 2005, has been broadcast nationwide on the radio. His works Crimson and Grace have been recorded by the award winning guitarist Brandon Louis Jones (Enlightenment, 2004).

Jonathan is a graduate of Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music and will be attending the University of Southern California next fall to pursue a Master of Music in Classical Guitar Performance.
