Growing up in San Diego, a city with a thirst for jazz, brought Dennis Bergstrom close to players like Ottmar Liebert and Jessy Cook. He would hear them on the radio and see them at Humphrey's Concerts Series on Shelter Island in the summer months. These guitarists brought Flamenco World beat to him and lit his world on fire. Dennis had always been attracted to Latin music and when he heard Ottmar's first release, "Neuveau Flamenco" on Higher Octave Music, he decided to seek out formal training. He enrolled at Musician's Institute in Hollywood in 1996 and began to learn as much from the students as the teachers. "There were students from all over the world playing all different styles, willing to teach others while absorbing material themselves," says Dennis.

As he began to get a bit of Spanish and flamenco sounds under his hands, it made his surf trips into Mexico more enjoyable. He'd bring a guitar and play music as if were a sound track for his own movie. Finally, he has learned that music and surfing go so well together. Now, Dennis sits home and writes new material gaining inspiration from his surf adventures and travels. "And when I'm in the water", says Dennis, "I'm thinking about and singing my current melodies - I'm either learning or constructing." 'Road to Conejo' is a collection of songs that reflect the experiences of his adventures in Baja and mainland Mexico.

Dennis is currently working on writing songs that will blend world beat sounds with Spanish guitar and arranging them to be suitable for the practice of yoga.
