Denny Snyder was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana and is also known to many as "Southside Denny". Over the years as "Southside Denny" he has also lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Chicago, Illinois and Montreal, Quebec. To his credit, Denny has 5 independent albums, a wife and three children, and the list of people he has performed with and shared the stage with as an opening act reads like a blues "Who's Who"! Certainly there continues to be and will always be a Southside Denny Band, mostly known for the guitarists' fret board gymnastics backed by a thunderous rhythm section.
But maybe such extremes in climates and life and musical experiences that has brought Denny to present this side of himself that is quite the surprise. In fact, so different from what most of us know from him that he has decided to call it simply who he is - Denny Snyder.
Elements of all those blues still lie in this virtuoso acoustic music as you can hear from his new disc titled "Eclectic". It contains 12 instrumental solo guitar pieces drawing from the Blues, Folk, New Age and even Flamenco idioms creating a melting pot of music one could only categorize as "good". These songs have been constructed and honed over the years in a format that could not be delivered in an electric band setting. Of course in live performance he includes certain Southside Denny material, as well as an occasional blues standard.
