The name DOKAPI stems from the Esperanto du kapoj - two heads, the duo formed by guitarist Titus Köstler-Philipp and pianist Tilman Sommer. During the work on Rock and Pop productions at the end of the eighties, the idea arised to compose instrumental music expressing the musical roots and preferences of both musicians.

The soulful and inspiring music of Dokapi has a contemplative character, but not so much in the sense of "meditation music" since the goal of meditation can be described to reach a state that is experienced when the mind dissolves and is free of all thoughts. The music sets a contemplative mood with the listeners, sparking their imagination and letting their mind wander, some kind of soundtrack for daydreaming. The distinctive features are the influences of Jazz-Rock, frequent improvisations of guitar and piano, the emphasis of rhythm and the balance of acoustic and electronic sounds.

The creative work usually starts with improvisations over some rhythmical base tracks. In the recorded material, the musicians elaborate on those sections, which captured the special magic of the first moment. For maturing it takes a lot of espresso coffee and cakes, pasta and pesto, and naturally - in vino veritas - fine red vine to go along with the extensive and dedicated conversations at the end of all creative days.
