Performing with Dru on this superbly recorded CD is the Santa Fe based Not Always American Drum Core. A world anthology of percussion, flute and vocal pieces, this 60 minute CD includes music based on the Native American, Moroccan, Buddhist and Islamic traditions. Featured are a variety of ethnic instruments, ranging from the tabla, dumbek, square drum, kudam, flutes, and hammered dulcimer, to the sequencer and sythesizer.

"Percussionist Dru Kristel writes from shamanic experience in Breath was the First Drummer. He has played beside some of the most innovative artists of our time and has also created his own flavorful music based on steamy world rhythms and the various Native American tribal motifs with which he is usually associated. In fact, Where You Are, Kristel's debut recording, is an incredible, authentic work of cosmic power and mystery. His highly enthralling treatise on drumming is both comprehensive and entertaining, and (reveals) his role as musical shaman for those who want to listen to his message of enlightenment and magic through music."

Christine Cosenza, Moving Words Review

Dru Kristel has created his own flavorful music based on steamy world rhythms and the various Native American tribal motifs with which he is usually associated. In fact, Where You Are, Kristel's debut recording, is an incredible, authentic work of cosmic power and mystery, augmenting the searing percussive treatments you would normally detect throughout those aforementioned guest appearances. His nuances, flourishes, and rhythms pulsate, invigorate, and cleanse the "six" senses as Kristel becomes the hammer of the gods, applying his truly gifted hands to an instrument which echoes the heartbeat of the earth Herself.
