Evren Ozan discovered the Native American flute on a cross-country road trip when he was six years old. His first album, Images of Winter, was recorded when he was 7, and he was honored the following year as "Rising Star" by the Native American Music Awards. His second album, As Things Could Be, was recorded when he was nine, and has been reviewed by numerous journals and heard on national and international radio stations. Evren's music is heard on several independent films, and he performs regularly throughout the United States. He has opened for R. Carlos Nakai and the R. Carlos Nakai Jazz Quartet, performed at receptions for Jane Goodall and Robert Kennedy Jr., among others, and performed in concerts with Peter Kater and Paul McCandless. Backroads Music cited As Things Could Be as one of 2003's Best Instrumental Albums, and in 2005, Evren received a second "Rising Star" award from the Native American Music Awards for this album.
The back cover of As Things Could Be reads: "Child prodigy Evren Ozan plays the Native American flute with the command and grace of a seasoned master flutist. His youthful spirit transports us to a variety of rich and diverse musical landscapes that are complemented by contemporary and world instrumentation and world class guest artists. From joyous and upbeat to tender and introspective, his music conveys the thrill, innocence, awe and sacredness of all life. Evren Ozan paints a beautiful vision AS THINGS COULD BE."
