" Music was born free, and to win freedom is its destiny...".
-Ferruccio Busoni(Early 20th century composer) This CD holds a special place in my heart as it is almost completely free improvised and I feel most at ease when playing in that kind of format. Heather and I recorded this in one 3 hour session live, in the late fall of 2003. There are no edits, so what you're hearing is spontaneous music, with some of its pitfalls and mostly its magic. I'm quite satisfied with the resulting music which is tasteful and passionate. Glenn Naftchi is an award-winning pianist and composer who has studied both Classical and Jazz piano. He began his training at the age of seven and continued his studies at New York University, working on his Masters of Music degree. Glenn's composition, Texas, won the Austin Songwriter's Competition in 2000, and Sovereign Vibrations receieved Honorable Mention in the Jon Lennon Songwriter's Competition in the World Music Category in 2002. He has had the opportunity to perform as a soloist, in chamber music, as well as in jazz combos throughout the United States and abroad, including Fiji, Hawaii, New York, Texas and California. Glenn's creativity can be heard in his performances as well as in his compositions. Currently Glenn is composing two string quartets and two symphonic works, and has been gigging with Duo Pacifico.
