Jim is a lifelong musician, and has also spent many years in the field of visual arts. He is a prize-winning painter and is represented in many private collections. He was a long-time professor of art and has a PhD in the field. But throughout his life, he has also been involved in music composition and performance. He has received the Connecticut Songwriters Association award for 'Significant Artistic Achievment'. His music has been described as ".....an unusual kind of sound - a pop / new age kind of thing........it is emotional, melodic, exciting....." (The Hartford Courant, January 1997, quoting A.J. Gundell, multiple Emmy winning recording artist and music director, including the Bill Cosby Show, Guiding Light, All My Children to cite just a few of his many accomplishments). Jim's music is presented in the form of instrumentals mainly as soundtrack, underscore, and theme music, and has been featured on television. Best described as melodic and evocative - "painting pictures in your mind", accompanying the listener on whatever journeys their imagination may take them. The emotional response when listening to Jim's music is varied, from tears of emotion to smiles of light-heartedness. Soothing, relaxing, but never boring! His two albums - "Sapphire" and "Sail Away With Me" have been very well received and continue to please his audiences. Jim is currently working on his 3rd album.
