Singer/Songwriter Kari Tieger writes primarily about spiritual growth and relationships, sharing her unique perspective on life.
Her compositions range anywhere from dramatic gothic love songs to a plea of hope for the future.
Kari is a keyboard/vocalist. She released this debut hour-long CD, "Touch of Magic," in December of 1998 (Tiger Sound), for which she brought in about 20 talented local players.
Her music is an eclectic blend of contemporary pop with New Age, jazz, and classical influences.
Currently working with percussionist Ron Schmitt, formerly of the renowned Celtic group Pendragon and guitar/bassist Jon Brennan of Shryne, Kari is collaborating on and developing original material for possible future release.
She also transcribes, co-arranges and records with fellow composer Kevin Campbell, serving as his co-producer in the studio.
Being bilingual for a number of years, Kari has been accumulating a collection of original French poetry and songs, and completed work on and released an album in November of 2001, entitled "En francais, s'il te plait."
A member of ASCAP since 1989 (recipient of numerous popular songwriting awards), the Rhode Island Songwriters Association since 1993, and most recently Just Plain Folks online since 1997, Kari has made appearances on RI cable television ("Just Plain Folk," "Artists/RI," "The Don Lincoln Show"), received some airplay in the greater New England area, as well as in Europe, and performs at local festivals, bookstores and coffeehouses.
Kari made short tours to northern France in September 2000, and again in July 2004 to Paris and Aix-en-Provence. The most recent trip was to record and promote an upcoming 5-track release "Pas de Deux," a preview of her next full length album, "Nos Mots."
