"I believe that music is the bridge that brings us together. When I integrate sounds from another culture, I feel like I am embracing it...declaring our oneness." As winner of Los Angeles Music Awards' "Singer/Songwriter of the Year," Larisa Stow is known for her soul-searching lyrics and haunting melodies. After recently working with top-selling author Thomas Ashley-Farrand ("Healing Mantras") producing his kirtan album, Larisa was inspired to continue on this path. She enrolled several of her original band members who collaborated with her on pop music, and a dynamic journey began. As a way to acknowledge their new beginning, a new name seemed in order and "Gathering Guru" was born...
"The Guru Principle"
"Guru" literally means "that which turns the darkness into light" in Sanskrit. The primary intention of this group is to "gather" together to deliver their heart-felt music and inspire all present to join in with singing and dancing so that a magical light-filled event is co-created by all.
"Reaching In" is their debut release in the New Age genre. Reflected in the album are Larisa and the band's pop-rock roots combined with powerful sacred chants. The songs are mesmerizing and magical.
Prior to this, Larisa teamed up with legendary producer David Tickle (U2, Peter Gabriel) and DTS to create the critically acclaimed "Moment by Moment," the first original album for 5.1-Channel Surround Sound.
