About Songs for the Journey, Part 1 .....
Combining scripture, meditation and piano improvisation has been a creative joy inspired by the spirit of my own journey. The springboard of this resource is the 1999-2000 Horizons bible study of the Presbyterian Women. Part 1 consists of four guided meditations using psalms from this study. The meditations can be used in a variety of ways:
To introduce the psalm at bible study classes
To pray the psalm individually or as a group
To use as a basis for discussion
To listen to for personal devotion
Each psalm meditation of six to ten minutes in length include such themes as: short phrases of scripture in lectio divino style, guided prayer for the individual, community and world, Advent, Lent, and Easter. The selections are not intended as lengthy meditations, but as a means to begin to go deeper into one's own spiritual journey. It is my prayer that you will hear through scripture, music and meditation the sound that speaks to your soul.
