« Well, I was looking for something different and this is certainly refreshing. There's a lot of electronic music masquerading as New Age / Chillout etc., but this is the real thing! Beautiful, evocative music. I could quote half a dozen or so artists it reminds me of at times, but that would be unfair. I liked all the tracks and have downloaded them for inclusion in playlists.
- Paul De Micheli, Mondo Blu Radio Barcelona

« An incredible 14 tracks from this album are in current rotation on Troubadour 1700. Most frequent airing occurs on "Sleep Enhancement" overnight program from 10 PM to 6 AM »
- Jeffrey Gill, Troubadour 1700 AM, Massachusetts, USA

« Simply everybody at the station who has heard this album has enjoyed it and listener response has been very positive. Personally, I love it. »
- Keith Bissett, 2XXFM, Australia

« Unusual and beautfiful material at the same time. Strong melodies recall some classic composers whose spirit proved enough inspiration to author R.Paquin. Compositions float one after another investigating various rhythm spaces and allow ideas to permeat their strenght of expression. »
- Vasja Ivanovski, 94.1 FM RADIO 2, Macedonia

« Many thanks for giving me the opportunity to listen to "Tarot". So many impressive themes running throughout the CD. I've been plying some of the tracks in my chill-out shows, some of the tracks are very filmic and dramatic too ! »
- Anthony Farmer, Jazz Syndicate radio, U.K .

« Brilliant! »
- Lilitu Babalon, Artsound 92.7 FM, Australia

« This CD is absolutely beautiful. Thanks so much for sending it. I will be featuring several tracks on our Ambient Moods program at the end of January. Congratulations. »
- Sheril Berkovitch, 2CX, Australia

« Very enjoyable music, been playing the heck out of it. Rejean does a fine job on all tracks, this CD is mostly instrumental with, splashs of rich vocal harmonies that blend into a fine musical experience. »
- Dusty Durst, KCLC FM 89.1, Missouri, USA

« 3 1/2 out of 5 stars ! »
- Mark O'Neill, 103.7 3WAY-FM, Australia

Artist Information

Réjean Paquin was born on August 17 1960 in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. His passion for music starts when playing saxophone in his high-school years. The progressive rock movement of the 70’s, particularly the works of keyboardist Rick Wakeman, will have a significant influence on his musical creation. The Wakeman influence is so prominent that he starts to learn electronic keyboard. In 1977, he becomes the keyboardist of Mantra, a progressive rock group that play covers of Yes and Genesis. But the great musical epics of Wakeman (i.e. : Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Round Table) still fascinates him ! He then goes entirely towards composition of solo projects. He plans to create a musical work that will bring together rock, symphonic and choir orchestrations. But, he needs to find a unique thematic…
In 1979, his brother Yves Paquin, designer and illustrator, publishes the first Quebec Tarot (Le Tarot idéographique du Kébèk). Fascinated by his brother’s work, Réjean Paquin starts to be interested in the science of the Tarot, the meaning of the cards and especially, the musical symbolism that could be generated from them. At 19 years old, he undertakes therefore a long process towards this dream : to write 22 musical pieces representing the 22 major arcanas of the Tarot. However, the outcome of this project will bring to a conclusion only 26 years later !!
He undertakes studies in musical composition in the Conservatory of Music in Hull. Later on, he contributes on various projects like musicals and rock operas and gradually works on numerous soundtrack for film, documentaries, commercials and multimedia. This vast experience helps him to develop new composition, arrangement and orchestration techniques that utilise sampling and sound effects technology. He has now in his hand all the necessary tools to create his work. Today, at 45 years old, he finally present the music of the Tarot…
