Oykalo Hamill (voice, percussion) and Joao Junqeira (guitar, voice) are Sympatiko, an all-acoustic duo who - with great musicians such as those featured on the CD - have earned big buzz from their performances at the Los Angeles based WorldFest 2002 and San Fransisco area World One festivals. Their current, self-titled CD recently debuted at #22 on the NAR top 100 national radio chart as they continue to receive recognition across the United States for their inspired songs of transcendance and beauty.

The Midwest Record Recap says of the CD: "One of those delightfully uncatagorical releases that mixes world, jazz, Brazil, good vibes, solid musicianship and magic into a tasty sonic stew. Ignoring boundries, the duo behind this set puts the music first which is a real treat for anyone that feels like the music business just isn't reaching them anymore." And Greg McVicar, host/producer of Earthsongs exclaims: "This is musical poetry with a pulse; Sympatiko sets hearts on fire!"

Every song on this inspired debut is at once old and new, colorful and captivating and weaves a spell both uplifting and mesmerizing. Sympatiko defines what world music in the 21st century is all about: a future less constrained by geography and culture in a world that grows increasingly closer.

CD instrumentation:
voice, indigenous and ethnic drums including tabla, dumbeck, djembe and Native American ceremony styles; guitars; acoustic and electric bass; violin cello.
