wings ...
They're something we can all use more of,
especially these days.
                              Not just the kind of
feathery angel wings that are soft to the touch.
But the wings of uplifting, comforting ideas that
heal - both mind and body.

This recording was made with "rising above" in
mind. May these songs lift you up above life's
turmoil and help you find your wings!

The sheer beauty of this intimate collection of
songs will inspire you time after time.
Recorded by the Grammy Award-winning
producer for Andrea Bocelli and Cecilia Bartoli.
Highlights include "O Dreamer", "Mother's
Evening Prayer" and "Comfort Ye" from
Handel's Messiah.

WENDY REYNOLDS, SOPRANO
Wendy's parents must have known something when they nicknamed her "Screamin' Mimi" as an infant. At age three, she made her solo debut at the local beauty shop singing such hits as "Little Red Caboose" and "He's a Tramp". At seven, she started piano lessons which led to a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Masters in Composition from Texas Christian University. Wendy's vocal career began in musical theatre, with performances as Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Sarah in Company, and Kate in Kiss Me, Kate. The Coral Springs-Parkland Forum wrote, "Wendy Reynolds is excellent as the tempestuous Lilli Vanessi and equally convincing as Kate. She not only has audience-pleasing vocal chords but is a good actress as well." She makes frequent solo appearances in both recital and oratorio, as well as in concert with orchestra. Currently, she is Soloist for First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boca Raton and often performs the songs featured on this recording. An accomplished opera singer, her credits include Poussette in Massenet's Manon, Musetta in Puccini's La bohème, and the title role in Lehár's The Merry Widow. The Palm Beach Daily News wrote, "Wendy Reynolds performed with great energy and personality and possesses a beautiful soprano voice, with excellent ringing tones and a lovely spin to the sound. She has a great future in the opera world."

Critical acclaim for Wendy Reynolds:

"Special mention must be made of Wendy Reynolds who sang with ease and precision while maintaining beautiful tone and balance."
Palm Beach Daily News, Robert Sharon

"Indeed there was a lot of musicality on stage from soprano Wendy Reynolds of South Florida, who made much of each word in an aria from Così fan tutte."
            Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, Tim Smith

"Who could resist the sweet presence and buoyant vocalism of Wendy Reynolds!"
            Palm Beach Post, Charles Passey

STEVEN SIGURDSON, CELLO
Steve's passion for music was evident early on as he sat under his dad's headphones, transfixed by the great symphonies even as a toddler. He fastened onto the cello at age seven, and went on to earn his bachelor degree from The Juilliard School as a student of Leonard Rose and Channing Robbins. While at Juilliard, he received critical acclaim as cellist of the Guinness (formerly known as the "Pez") String Quartet. An experienced soloist, Steve has performed concertos with orchestras in Chicago and South Florida, and has given recitals in Italy, Japan and throughout the US. Since 1990, he has been the Associate Principal Cellist of the Florida Philharmonic. He is also the founder and Music Director of the Haydn Society of Florida, a recent addition to South Florida's thriving chamber music community. The New York Times wrote, "Sigurdson should be singled out for his evocative, firm, poised playing." When Steve and Wendy met, it was love at first sight, and since then, they've enjoyed married life in sunny Fort Lauderdale with their cat, Lucy Hobbes Nügen.

Critical acclaim for Steven Sigurdson:

"Sigurdson is a dynamic player. He carves out phrases passionately. His technique is more than respectable; his tone is juicy."
Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, Tim Smith

"His skillful technique, lovely tone, and obvious musicality brought out the beauty of the melodic Haydn work."
            Hinsdale Doings (Chicago), Elise Parsons

"Steven Sigurdson interpretó Dvorak Cello Concerto, logrando una extraordinaria fusión con la música, que le permitió transmitir al público sus sentimientos y su notable sensibilidad musical."
            Viva Semanal (Miami), Bianca Ardizones

BETH MCGINNIS, PIANO
Beth received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Samford University. She quickly made a name for herself on the competition circuit and went on to great acclaim as both a soloist and accompanist. Besides being a brilliant performer, Beth is also a gifted scholar, receiving a Master of Music in Musicology from Texas Christian University. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she is writing her dissertation on Olivier Messiaen. And although she has been buried in books for the past several years, her talents as a pianist are much sought after. It was icing on the cake that this recording project corresponded with one of her passions: the fusion of music and spirituality. In fact, she created the college course, "Spirituality, Genre, and American Popular Music", and is also Minister of Music at Ephesus Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. Beth, her husband Scott, and their pets Darling and Sam, welcomed their first child, William, in March 2002.
