THE STORY BEHIND THE MUSIC ...
It was 4am on a beautiful crisp Scottish morning.
As usual the day was beginning with prayers and meditation. The time between 4am and 6am is considered to be one of the most powerful spiritually as it sees the night end and the new day's dawn.
During my meditation, I began to feel "something" around me. Strong tingling sensations began running up and down my body. At the same time, piercingly bright lights came into view inside my closed eyes. There was a stillness, a sacredness, a feeling of being wrapped up in a blanket of love. I felt myself being gently encouraged to move. I rose to my feet and began taking some tentative steps towards the room in my house where my musical equipment was.
There was no mistaking it, I was being guided.
In my studio, I sat down and closed my eyes again to gain composure. This was a new experience for me and although I wasn't sure what exactly was happening or what it was that was behind this, there was absolutely no fear, only a sense of something magical and beautiful about to happen. There was a warmth and a comfort - something I had not felt in a very long time. The best way I can describe it is it was as if I had been taken back in time and I was a small child again and I was being cradled by my mother. It was soothing, maternal, loving and yet strangely ethereal at the same time. I sensed a "power" all around me and the tingling sensations began to increase. There was an overwhelming feeling of compassion and love and beauty. I felt myself "talking" through my heart.
I lifted my arms slightly, positioned my fingers as if ready to play and communicated through my heart to this energy that I was ready,
"Please make me your instrument," was my prayer.
That's when it began.
The fingers of my left hand began gently moving. A defined rhythmical pattern began to be played. As if guided by a celestial conductor, my right hand rose poised to play. The index finger descended and began playing a single note melody to accompany the notes my left hand was playing.
My eyes remained closed.
Tears began to flow freely down my face as the wonder and the beauty of the music that I was hearing filled my heart. Every cell of my body was resonating like a joyous symphony. Although my fingers were physically playing only single notes, I could hear sounds coming from, what I can only describe as, a heavenly orchestra. Within the inner vision of my closed eyes, warm lights radiated with splashes of gentle flowing colours. My body began swaying from side to side enraptured by the blissful waves of warm, loving energy flowing through me.
Then, I heard a voice speak to me, so softly, so distinctly and yet so reassuringly...
"Though you can't see us
we're beside you,
to protect you and guide you
and there is no distance
between your heart and ours."
It was then that I knew I was in the company of angels.
I continued playing in blissful harmony with these celestial guardians for what seemed like only a few minutes. When I finally came out of this trance-like state and stopped playing, it transpired that five hours had elapsed.
I recorded the melody that had been channelled and sent it immediately to a dear friend of mine in New York. She later described to me the deep inner healing that had taken place within her through the vibrations of this music. She told of angelic visitations the likes of which she had never previously experienced. She urged me to continue with patience, purity and perseverance the channelling of more music from the Angels and produce an album that would bring vibrations of love, peace and inner healing to the hearts of all who would hear it.
This year, an album entitled "In The Company Of Angels" has been produced and, with the assistance of both celestial and earth angels, is now humbly being presented to you.
This CD is the story of my heart's communication with the Universe set to music. It is my journey from darkness into light, from ignorance to awareness, from experiencing the depths of despair and loneliness to finding within me a silent, calm joy, a deep reverence for life, courage, resilience and ultimately, experiencing the unconditional love of which we are all made.
It represents a deeply emotional yet transformational five year period in my life that has seen me go from being surrounded by "demons", malicious, self-centred, uncaring people whose actions left me spiritually and materially bankrupt, to the present day, where I am surrounded by "angels" - both in the celestial and human form - souls whose compassionate, giving, nurturing and loving actions have touched me deeply and have restored my faith and belief in humanity. It is these people who have made the bringing of this music into the world possible. Their kindness, generosity of spirit and love, has given me the strength to pursue my dreams.
"Yaatri" is therefore not simply the name of a composer and artist but it represents all those who have come together to make this project happen. Their love, compassion and selfless actions have made the bringing of this music to the world stage possible.
I am now beginning to hear from many who are listening to this music that they are experiencing the same deep inner
healing that I went through during the channelling and recording of this CD - the result of the past 5 years of prayer and meditation. There could be no greater joy or happiness within my heart than to know that this music has, in some way, helped to bring peace and inner healing to the hearts of others.
I have never sought personal recognition or fame from this venture - nor do I ever wish to do so. The bringing of this music into the world has been a deeply spiritual experience and one that I feel immensely blessed and humbled by.
I am not the doer, I am simply the witness.
With my hands folded, I bow to the Divinity within you and pray that, wherever your journey may take you on this Earth, this music may fill your heart with love and peace and keep you always in the company of angels.
