Blending live sounds with electronic textures, it is house music at its up-tempo, fluid best.
To die for builds on the foundation they introduced on their successful 2001 debut, Groove Traxx: 12 original tracks, written and produced by Kinetic Grooves.
"Putting all of our own tracks on CD gives us an opportunity to really give people an idea of the kind of music that we like to make and it?s a part of our sound, but it?s only one part of our sound, " said Sen-Sei.
"When we play live and we are using other people?s records, a live performance incorporates our tracks in addition to others so it?s only one part of the story.
And this mixed CD format is all of our own original material that we are emphasizing, first and foremost, what this particular part of the story is." Tracks from the album were featured throughout Sen-Sei and Coleman?s four-hour set at Crobar, Miami July 20, 2001.
When asked the crowds response to the tracks, Sen-Sei enthusiastically responded, "There were two tracks, "The Wicked" track and "The Bomb" that David played that went off really well, and they happened to be the ones that are also featured on Blowfish Music ? to die for, as well as Kinetic Grooves #3, entitled Themes.
There were a lot of people just grooving and really getting into the tracks, and just showing a lot of emotion towards Dave and I, so the vibe on that aspect was great.
We were really able to see crowd participation embracing the tracks." To die for is the first release off the San Francisco-based Blowfish Music label.
The label was spawned from the ever-so-chic restaurant, Blowfish Sushi, and was established to share the beauty of electronic music, and create a stimulating atmosphere for its listeners.
"I started the label to educate people on the diversity of electronic music," said Jason Teplitski, owner of Blowfish Music.
"I decided to showcase David Coleman and Sen-Sei because they have such a unique and unusual sound, which is what the label is all about." Blowfish Music ? to die for will hit stores in October 2001.
