Making ends meet and finding an affordable rehearsal space proved to be a veritable struggle for the band whose motto became "Where there's a will - we'll find the way". The guys stuck steadfastly to their common goal and ultimately acquired a solid reputation on the local music scene.
In 1992, CONTAGEOUS was approached by a booking agent who caught one of their amazing performances and offered to put together a national tour for them. The next two years that followed, they embarked on an extensive tour across Canada. There, the quartet got to hone their skills on the road and saw their fan base grow with every new gig along the way. And at the end of their musical journey, they had amassed over 550 live performances!
Although their set list included a few covers, their repertoire was comprised of mostly original tunes, this did not always sit well with their booking agents or with certain venues for that matter. But CONTAGEOUS felt it paramount to remain true to themselves and refused to be branded a "cover band".
Their song writing ability was highlighted bias the band's first e.p: ROLLING WITH THE PUNCHES (1994), followed by the released their first full-length album entitled: BIG (1995). Over 3,500 copies were pressed and sold of both titles within six months from their release dates - a rather impressive feat for any independent band with limited resources! The band credits local radio support in each market they played for the success of their CD sales and the great turnouts at their shows.
Maintaining their position throughout the scene, they eventually ceased all touring activities and decided to set their primary focus on song writing, giving them the opportunity to write, rehearse, and experiment their new material with total freedom.
In April 2000, their latest album: DOC HOLLIDAY RIDES AGAIN was released on their own label ARKH'EM RECORDS CANADA which is distributed by DEP DISTRIBUTION (Quebec's foremost independent distributor). Now thanks to the internet, CONTAGEOUS takes their infectious sound, dubbed as "NEW MILLENIUM ROCK", and their electrifying performances to music lovers across Canada and beyond...
