Since the spring of 2004, Delorean has played a variety of venues and events in and around North Carolina ranging from club shows to fundraising events to large outdoor festivals including the renowned North Carolina Seafood Festival, UNC Fall Fest 2004, and the Carrboro Music Festival, all of which having expressed a desire for the band to return for future performances.
The band's musical style is relatively unique and not easily categorized by label or genre. Delorean incorporates elements from decades past and present, drawing upon the influences of its respective band members. Guitar riffs and harmonies in the style of Iron Maiden and the Scorpions mix with ambitious progressive song structures reminiscent of Dream Theater or Metallica. Interplay among the instruments complemented by dynamic vocal presence takes center stage, giving the music an energy and emotion that "cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced."
In the summer of 2004, Delorean went to work recording their eagerly anticipated debut album, "Dauntless". At just under an hour in length, the record features all original material composed and produced by the band. Musically it showcases the strengths of the group, both in songwriting and technical ability, and features songs varying in intensity from the contemplative to the anthemic across a cohesive album of instrumental and vocal arrangements.
With the release of "Dauntless", Delorean is promoting the album through avenues available to independent artists, with online marketing and distribution being handled through CDBABY.com. In North Carolina "Dauntless" can be found at participating Sam Goody retail outlets and On Cue Music of Morehead City, as well as various independent music stores including: Schoolkids Records of Chapel Hill, Guitars Etc. of Havelock, and Nit Nats of Henderson. Digital downloads of the album are currently available from AOL's bundled "MusicNet" service, MusicNow, Apple's iTunes Music store, and TowerRecords.com, and are being expanded to additional digital distribution services weekly.
