This CD has something for everyone! These bands were hand selected by DBE Music Producer Jordan Tishler as the best and brightest of Boston in 1998.
Check out folk singer songwriter James O'Brien whose bell-like guitar sound, deep lyrics, and sharply cutting voice even out-Dylans Dylan! Did we mention the lyrics are deep? Bring your life raft, baby!
Bean is a popular Boston based acoustic pop band drawing on jazz influences from their acoustic bass player Katherine, and rock and roll from their Bonham-esque drummer. There's even a touch of Celtic folk music in their sound! They've been likened to Dave Matthews on Prozac.
Banter and Evil People supply the harder side of this disc. Banter is an aggressive alternative rock band in the style of early Pearl Jam or STP, but with a late 90s vibe. Evil People is death metal pure and simple. Head bangers crank the volume and prepare for whiplash!
Lastly, The Zaklees round out the lineup. What compilation would be complete without its wacky, Dr. Demento-like jazz fusion band?
Searing Hammond and swirling guitar licks back some of the zaniest lyrics you'll find in modern music. Zappa fans you're gonna dig this!
