Over the course of the past year Francis Nash has evolved into both a fantastic live act as well as a polished studio band. The band began playing live shows in the Seattle area only four weeks after reforming and instantly it was obvious that there was chemistry. Six months of live performances pushed the band into the studio where their debut CD was recorded in four days at Soundhouse Studios in Seattle on a meager budget. From those sessions arose a true masterpiece. Recently they just finished an 8 song EP with legendary Producer Jack Endino, which is due out soon.
Francis Nash consists of Minor Moriarty - guitars/vocals, Mike Hommel - drums, and Pat Gray - bass guitar. The band was formed by Moriarty and Hommel around 1999 when the two were finally brought back together again after a five year absence of Moriarty who was living the dream of extreme skiing on a semiprofessional level around the world. Hommel has been playing drums in the Seattle scene for years in many projects and is widely considered one of the best drummers on the West Coast. Moriarty and Hommel were no strangers to each other considering they spent their childhoods together on Bainbridge Island, WA, which is just across the Puget Sound from Seattle. Over the course of the past ten years Hommel & Moriarty have played together in multiple bands and projects. When Francis Nash was ready to record they hooked up with Seattle producer Pat Gray, after the record was finished the original bass player left the band and Gray became the third member.
Francis Nash is poised to make a huge impact in the world of rock in a short amount of time with more great moments on the horizon. In the opinion of our fans, a band like this won't be seen in small venues for long...
