Guy Davis, former bassist and singer of the Seattle underground sensation Sage, has set his music alive with this 2003 debut of rock trio Guardian Alien. G.A. blends the dynamics of electrified banjo and concertina with heavy bass and drums. The songs reflect the band's affinity for unique melodic grooves while the lyrics speak directly to the subconscious.
"Deep Space" was recorded over winter 2002/2003 in Pioneer Square at Orbit Audio, with Joe Reineke. The collaboration inspired a solid contribution to original Seattle music and the lead instruments of banjo and concertina break sonic barriers by creating sounds you wouldn't think were possible on traditional instruments. Guardian Alien has been busy. In 2002, they played through out the Northwest, Alaska and Asia and went on an extensive U.S. tour with Eyes Adrift. In addition to the ten ace songs on "Deep Space", G.A self produced a music video that appears on the disc as a cd-rom. Also note worthy, Guy Davis played bass and sang backups on the 2001 release of "Bayleaf." Press quotes: "They had the entire crowd: foreigners, locals, kids, and even grandparents kicking up their heels and dancing all night to the rock/groovey/grunge eerie noise-scapes of Guardian Alien." Fink, Taipei "Fine musicianship like this, with an energetic performance to boot, makes for one satisfying evening."
