The title track, 'Spank' was written especially for an Australian film called 'Iced Lolly' (www.icedlolly.com). The director needed a hard rock act to write a song for his S&M scene, and High Stakes were more than willing to answer the call, serving up a track that tackled the ins and outs of crime and punishment, pleasure and pain. The movie has screened in Australia and is currently traveling the globe on the international film festival circuit.
A red hot film clip (Windows and Mac versions) also features on this release, starring the gorgeous Tanya Hush (www.tanyahush.com) who teaches the High Stakes boys a lesson they will never forget!
The High Stakes rock 'n' roll sound is firmly steeped in the tradition of great Aussie hard rock acts such as AC/DC, The Angels and Rose Tattoo, but with a youthful energy, punk rock vibe and a healthy dose of arrogance.
Lyrically, High Stakes cover sun, sand, surf, sex, and screaming (with undertones of political activism, friendship and peace).
Cartoon artwork by Danica Wells-Heitmann created especially for this release spices up the 4 page colour booklet.
A stand out track is 'Death Alien Vagina Woman', a semi-true narrative that represents the current climate of paranoia and fear in the world today.
High Stakes are a real rock 'n' roll band, with two huge guitars, one fat drum kit, one fat bass, and a lead singer unencumbered by an instrument.
